Before arrival, the host demanded an extra €350 "deposit" via bank transfer outside of Booking, and withheld our address and keys until it was paid — we didn't get access until midday on check-in day. On arrival: the living room curtain had completely collapsed off its track (a real safety hazard for children), the radiator was leaking dirty water, the water heater had no pressure so there was no hot water, the master bedroom shutter was completely jammed (no A/C in that room either), other bedroom shutters didn't close properly, and there was no working access code for the building gate. Maintenance came three separate times, always after 7pm, disrupting our children's bedtime. After check-out, the host refused to return the €350 deposit, blaming us for "damage" — including the same jammed shutter their own manager admitted in writing (WhatsApp) had already been jammed by previous guests before we even checked in. When confronted with their own message, they simply repeated a generic refusal with no evidence, no repair invoice, and no explanation for the contradiction. We have timestamped photos, videos, and the WhatsApp conversation proving all of this. We're escalating to Booking.com and Spanish consumer protection authorities. Book elsewhere.
